Professor Alex was born in Brasilia, Brazil. He began training Judo and Capoeira at the age of 7. He continued with both, even winning a State Championship in Capoeira, until he found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 16. A few years later Prof Alex was offered a position in the United States teaching and competing in NYC.
